Hearts for the Homeless is partnering with the Buffalo Dream Center to hold a Christmas dinner for the area homeless people. Hearts goes into the community to transport people to the event. They are looking for 350 dozen cookies. We would like to help provide some of the 350 dozen cookies. If you can make one or two dozen cookies please let Jill Carl know. There will be a signup sheet in Krampitz Hall. If you bring the cookies to church on Sunday 12/18, Jill will transport them. Thank you!!

From Pastor Nickel:

Thank You! Dear members of Holy Cross, thank you so much for all your kind cards, generous gifts, personal messages, and the love in Christ that you showed me, Rachel, Natalie, and Laura during all of “Pastor Appreciation Month” in October. Your kindness and generosity are an encouragement, and serving among you is a joy.

Update From Council:

Bi-Annual Voters Meeting: Sunday December 11th after 2nd service will be our bi-annual voters meeting. Some of the highlights include approving the 2017 budget and voting in new council members. Please try to attend.

As we rapidly approach December, the Council’s thoughts are turning to 2017 planning.   First and foremost is who will serve on the 2017 Council?  It should be noted that our current Vice-President, Sam Gugliuzza, and our Building and Grounds Manager, Paul Donnelly, are stepping down.  They have both served on Council for many years and they now look to take a break from this service, (but they plan to serve the church in different areas).  In addition to these known vacancies, all Council members except for our Treasurer, John Zachau, are up for re-election.  (Treasurer and Financial Secretary serve two year terms.)  With that in mind, all other Council Members are offering to serve again in 2017; however that should not stop anyone from running for any of the elected positions.  The Council has identified potential candidates:  Bob Hamp for Vice-President,  and for Buildings and Grounds, Doug Garlapo, but anyone seeking to run for any of the open positions is invited to contact Pastor Nickel, or Nancy Cote for more information.

We will have our December Voters Meeting on Sunday, December 11th, immediately following the second service.  Anyone who can’t attend this meeting is invited to share their thoughts with any and all Council members at any time.  During November, the Council will be developing the proposed 2017 budget, and we will send this out as soon as it is ready, so we can resolve questions, comments and concerns before the Voters meeting.  And of course, the proposed “Benevolences for 2017” will be part of this budget review and approval process.  In addition to our own housekeeping, we will vote on changes to the Constitution of the Synod, (posted on the bulletin board in Krampitz Hall), so please plan to attend this important annual meeting.

Thank you!

~Tom Marzano Council President

Year end offering donations:

Please note that 2016 offering donations must be received by Sunday, December 25th (deposited to bank on Monday, December 26) to be counted for this calendar year. Any donations received after that will be processed the following Sunday, January 1st and count towards 2017.  Please plan accordingly. Thank you. Susan Brooks

Dash’s Receipts:Screen shot 2014-05-31 at 7.59.55 AM

We did it again! We turned in enough Dash’s receipts to receive another $200 check in October. Thanks to everyone who brings in their receipts and to Lorraine Woodman who totals them up. All proceeds go to Hearts for the Homeless.

Heritage Home

Our regular visit to the Heritage Home would  be right on Christmas Day.  Our friends there will have family doings so the plan is to go January 1instead at 10 a.m.  The Tichys will accompany us with instruments as we Christmas carol.  You are invited to come to add to the chorus of Christmas praise to our  Lord that day.  What a day of sharing with others the joy of Christmas is as we begin a new year.  Christmas cookies are fun that day so bring some along.

~Alfrieda, Ron, Margaret
